Week 2: Method Research
This week, I have continued my research for the different methods and techniques I wanna try using for this project. I want to use different procedural workflows in Unreal Engine as well as Houdini, since it could save us a lot of time long-term.
The video here is a tutorial I am following to procedurally create our environments in Unreal using PCG (Procedural Content Generation). It goes over many different tools that I think could be very useful for a realistic environment.
I am also searching for tree and greenery 3D models to source for our environments. I plan to try procedural methods for the trees as well.
Current Progress with Procedural Content Generation in Unreal Engine (Rough Sketch of Landscape Sculpt)
Using randomly generated points based on the landscape height data, 6 different grass models are being randomly generated. Next, I plan to incorporate trees and different bushes.
I plan to watch and follow this video as well to learn as much information about PCG as I possibly can to be well-versed in this tool.
